We use generator-powered Lincoln Electric portable MIG equipment — no shore power required. MIG welding is our primary process for mild steel frames, brackets and body components. It produces clean, strong welds on the grades of steel used in commercial truck construction and is fast enough for emergency roadside work.
For heavier-gauge material, outdoor wind conditions or very thick structural steel, we switch to flux-core wire, which delivers deeper penetration and is more forgiving of surface contamination — critical when welding dirty trailer frames roadside.
Safety Note: Not all cracked frames should be welded roadside. Frame rail cracks that run perpendicular to the rail or extend past the flange indicate fatigue failure requiring engineering assessment. We evaluate every job before committing — if it is not safe to weld, we tell you immediately.
